This season, Kendrick Bourne proved to be a true weapon for the New England Patriots.
So that made his season-ending ACL tear all the more devastating.
And with the wide receiver set to become a a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, people wondered if he had taken his final snap with the Patriots. However, he made his opinion on that matter know.
Bourne posted a recap of 2023, explaining how it's had "a lot of ups! And a few downs!" And fellow Patriots receiver Demario Douglas was quick to comment, writing "Miss you brudda."
And here's where things got interesting. Bourne's response to Douglas directly showed how he feels about the Patriots heading into free agency.
It seems the struggles this season have not deterred the receiver from returning.
Bourne was set to have one of his best seasons prior to the injury, finishing with 37 total receptions for 406 receiving yards and four touchdowns across eight games.
In his seven years in the league, Bourne has 264 receptions for 3,409 receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns. He also has 19 carries for 168 rushing yards.
Bourne went down after getting tackled by Eli Apple on third-down early in the fourth quarter of the Patriots loss to the Dolphins in October. He remained down on the ground, grabbing his right leg and immediately took his helmet off. In clear discomfort, the trainers rushed over to him and he was able to walk off the field on his own.
He briefly went into the blue medical tent, but headed to the locker room soon after and was ruled out for the game. And while the Patriots hoped it was only an MCL injury, they received the worst possible news.
Bourne is one of the top free agents, but with latest message, the Patriots should be doing everything in their power to bring him back.
