The Minnesota Vikings quarterback position has been talked about more than just about any position group in the National Football League. After moving on from Kirk Cousins, they signed Sam Darnold and drafted J.J. McCarthy at 10th overall.

Unfortunately, McCarthy was just placed on injured reserve leaving the job to Darnold. It also means the Vikings are likely going to be careful with him the rest of the way and things are manifesting in that direction.

Darnold is not going to play on Saturday afternoon with Nick Mullens getting the start, according to Vikings Entertainment Network and KFAN's Chris Hawkey.

This is good news for Mullens who hasn't gotten many reps during the preseason and didn't play against the Las Vegas Raiders last week. Jaren Hall and Matt Corral will serve as the backups to Mullens.

The game kicks off at 3:25 p.m. CT.
