Despite not having a coaching job for the 2024 season, Bill Belichick just can't stay away from football.

The former New England Patriots head coach has been traveling to a few college campuses, speaking at difference coaching clinics. Specifically, he went to the University of Nebraska and made quite the impression on Cornhuskers coach Matt Rhule.

Rhule praised the future Hall of Fame coach when speaking with reporters, even saying that he was "embarrassed" because of Belichick's football knowledge.

“He is so smart, has seen so much that he can make the complex so simple that it humbles you and embarrasses you. I was embarrassed (Friday) listening to him, how smart he is, how simple it was,” Rhule said (via KETV’s Matt Sottile). “He went four and a half hours just with the coaches… three and a half hours in, I was like, ‘Coach, would you like a water? Cup of coffee? Would you like to use the restroom?’ Because I desperately had to use the restroom, and he’s like, ‘I’m fine, Matt.’ And I said, ‘Yes, sir.’ And just sitting there and just talking, right? And just his recall from things 15 years ago. And the only reason why we don’t get through more information is because he’s having to slow down to make sure you understand what he’s saying.”

And with that, he sent a very loud and clear message to the rest of the NFL, specially calling out teams that had openings this season that decided to pass over Belichick.

“You have this man who’s a savant, who’s been a defensive coordinator, he’s been a special teams coordinator, he could be an offensive coordinator, he’s been the head coach twice, he’s been a GM, personnel (leader),” Rhule stated. “And he’s talking about football in a way that just like — I mean, illuminates things and makes things so simple that you’re like, ‘Oh my goodness.’”

Rhule just can't believe that Belichick is without a job at the moment.

The Atlanta Falcons were the only team that showed true interest in the coach, but they ultimately went in another direction, hiring Raheem Morris. So that left Belichick on the outs and instead turning his attention to 2025.

But nobody believes he's done just yet. So let's wait and see what's next.
