Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan isn't ready to give up on a former No. 1 overall draft pick still in the free agent pool.

On Monday, Morgan revealed the Panthers are still in contact with former Baltimore Ravens edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney, who is also being courted by the New York Jets.

Morgan said he is "keeping in touch," with Clowney, Mike Haye of the Charlotte Observer reported

Clowney, a three-time Pro Bowler, visited the Panthers on March 14.

“We’re keeping in touch. Nothing’s coming down the pipeline as of yet,” Morgan said, via TheAthletic.com. “We’re still talking to not just Clowney’s people, but other people as well. Just trying to build this roster out and making it the best it can be.”

He has yet to decide on where he will play in 2024. That decision will likely come later in the summer, judging Clowney's history of making free-agent decisions.

Working in Carolina's favor is the proximity to home for Clowney. He is a Rock Hill, South Carolina, native.

If the Panthers land him, he is coming off one of the most productive seasons in recent memory for the 31-year-old.

But only time will tell if the constant communication means Clowney will be wearing a Panthers uniform come the fall.
