The New England Patriots have the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and based on recent reports, it seems pretty clear that they will select a quarterback.
And the top prospects going into the draft spoke about possibly playing for the Patriots next season.
Here is what each had to say:
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick, most likely going to the Chicago Bears. But you never know what could happen. And he could potentially be available when the Patriots are on the clock.
“The Patriots were cool. The room wasn’t as packed. They had just a few guys here," Williams said. "We talked mainly about ball. It was a good impression. They were asking me questions about my life, about ball. Testing me and things like that. All the meetings were good and they were all kind of in the same ballpark. They don’t really get to see you and test your mental, so this quick 10-20 minutes they have, that’s what they’re mainly doing, trying to get out of you.”
Drake Maye
The next question is whether Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels will go to the Washington Commanders who hold the No. 2 overall pick.
“I was really impressed with them and Coach (Jerod) Mayo. I first congratulated him (on the new job)… it was a pretty cool experience just being in there. New England is obviously a great sports town… So I thought it went well. I think New England is a great spot — all these teams, they’ve got a great spot.”
Jayden Daniels
Daniels has been selected in many mock drafts as the next quarterback of the Patriots.
“It was good – just to be able to put a name to a face. I know the names of those guys, so to be able to sit down and have a human contact, talk eye-to-eye with them. It was just great to go in there and just talk and get to know them and they get to know me.”
J.J. McCarthy
While he is not expected to go in the top three, J.J. McCarthy is certainly the most excited about the idea of potentially playing in New England
"Coach Mayo, awesome guy, asked some really great questions. You can definitely tell he's been around this process for along time and been a part of it. Great interactions and it would be an honor to be a part of their organization."
