Last season, the New England Patriots' struggles were not fun for anyone to watch. But one good thing came from it.

And that is the Patriots hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. So with that, there are a ton of possibilities.

But there is one clear need the Patriots have and for new head coach Jerod Mayo, he made it clear where he stands when it comes to that important position.

So what is the position in question?

Answer: a quarterback.

"It's the priority right now," Mayo told NFL Network's Steve Wyche. "But with that being said, you have to really be in love with the guy to take him at No. 3. So really all the options are still open for us."

The top three quarterbacks entering the draft are Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. Williams is the unanimous choice to be drafted No. 1 overall, which means he will be playing for the Chicago Bears.

This was further confirmed after the Bears traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As for Daniels and Maye, it's unknown at this moment which will go second overall and who will be left for the Patriots. But either are quality quarterbacks and could bring a lot to any team.

However, Mayo alluded that the team could also go in another direction. And drafting a quarterback isn't the only option they are thinking about.

Plus, the team brought in veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, so they could decide to give him the start this season.

Anything is on the table right now, so we just have to wait and see what happens.
