The New England Patriots can't catch a break on the offensive line.
The Patriots have place Riley Reiff on injured reserve, the team announced.
This opens up an additional roster spot, which New England has already filled. The Patriots signed tight end Pharaoh Brown to the 53-man roster on Monday.
Reiff has not practiced since getting hurt in the last preseason game, with it appearing to be a right leg/knee injury.
This is Reiff's first season with the Patriots, having been signed in March. He will miss at least the first four games of the season.
Reiff began his career with the Detroit Lions, being drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent five season with the Lions, before having stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, and Chicago Bears.
As for Brown, who takes Reiff's place on the roster, he was moved up from the practice squad and joins Mike Gesicki and Hunter Henry as the tight ends on the roster.
Defensive lineman Jeremiah Pharms fills Brown's open spot on the practice squad.
