In Thursday's preseason loss to the Houston Texans, one thing was very clear: the offensive line struggled.
KPRC's Aaron Wilson reports that the New England Patriots have reportedly signed versatile USFL offensive tackle Micah Vanterpool.
Vanterpool went undrafted out of Hawaii, finishing his final season by allowing no sacks and zero penalties.
The offensive line has suffered some injuries throughout training camp with Cole Strange and Trent Brown sitting out through most team drills. They also have Mike Onwenu who is on the physically unable to perform list along with tackle Calvin Anderson who is out with a non-football injury.
The run game struggled on Thursday, with the backs having no time to make any moves. By trying to add depth to the offensive line, the Patriots can look to improve their run game.
And with that they have also brought in another USFL player, signing running back C.J. Marable following a successful workout on Saturday.
Prior to Saturday's reports, the Patriots roster is currently at 90 after signing Joe Giles-Harris on Wednesday, so two corresponding moves are expected soon.
