The New England Patriots are starting training camp strong with near-perfect attendance; the only three absent players are offensive guard Mike Onwenu(PUP), special teamer Cody Davis(PUP), and offensive tackle Calvin Anderson(NFI).

Newly signed wide receiver Jalen Hurd(no. 13) and linebacker Deigo(no. 42) Fagot are both in attendance and appear ready to go. Hurd is wearing the same number as Jack Jones, which shows he is facing an uphill battle to make the team. Belichick also confirmed Hurd will work at receiver, despite having a history of playing wide receiver/running back in college.

Second-year cornerback Jack Jones is in attendance today too, which is a good sign for his status with the team despite ongoing legal issues. Belichick confirmed this to the media yesterday when he made his first public comments about Jones since his arrest.

The Patriot's biggest offseason acquisition wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is here on day one and looking healthy. Smith-Schuster's attendance is an early bright spot for the team as he missed all of the offseason programs until now. He has been the early star of day one too, the fans in attendance were getting loud for him during the early portion of team drills.

Trent Brown, who also missed most of the offseason workouts is in attendance and also appears to be healthy. A big deal for a team that has faced offensive line struggles and will need everyone as healthy as possible to field the most cohesive and talented unit possible.

Defensive lineman Lawrence Guy is present despite reportedly being upset over his contract. Belichick touched on that yesterday and said he "hoped" it was all behind them and Guy would be on the field for training camp. It appears they settled it, as Guy was in attendance today. More on Belichick's comments surrounding Guy's offseason holdout here

The 2023 draft class rookies are also all in attendance and have their typical rookie jerseys numbers, no. 50 through the late 60s depending on draft position. Third-round pick Marte Mapu is still in the red non-contact jersey we saw him in during OTAs.
