The New England Patriots have signed former Navy linebacker Deigo Fagot, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Fagot is a two-time all-AAC linebacker and was given the prestigious Navy title of team captain in 2021. Fagot was a long-time starter appearing in 42 career games and also lead the team in tackles in each of his final three seasons and finished his career with 282 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions, and nine forced fumbles.

Deigo went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft before starting his NFL career by signing with the Baltimore Ravens. He appeared in two preseason games, where he recorded five tackles, before being waived in August 2022 as part of the Ravens cut down to 80 players. Fagot is listed at 6'3, 240lbs, and projects to the roster as a Mike linebacker.

Belichick famously appreciates players from Navy, so this signing comes as no surprise. The question will be if he can survive the roster cut-downs and find a role on the team in 2023. The Patriot's roster now sits at 89, and they have one remaining spot left they can fill.
