Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had an important message for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on Thursday.

Prescott suffered a calf injury in 2021 that forced him to miss a game during the Cowboys' 12-5 season (he combined the missed game with Dallas bye week, so he was able to sit out for two weeks to heal).

The Dallas quarterback shared some advice for Burrow on Thursday (via ESPN's Todd Archer).

"Be patient. It's training camp," said Prescott. "A guy like that, you just need him for Game 1, really as the season gets going and the meat of the season. Just be patient. I know a guy like Joe is taking all of his mental reps, getting himself prepared. That's what you need to do most in this game when you're not being physical."

"But just look at his past," continued Prescott. "The guy got what an ACL his rookie year and comes back and has the best year as a quarterback? | guarantee he's got the right approach to it and doing exactly that."

It's pretty clear that the entire NFL is a believer in Joey B (and why shouldn't they be).

That's also some wise advice from Prescott — especially since he's been through what Burrow is going through right now.

Burrow is a competitor who badly wants to be on the field. And I'm sure there will be some temptation to return to practice as quickly as possible. But he needs to listen to Dak. Being patient is the best thing Burrow can do right now. The last thing anyone wants is for Burrow to come back too early and then end up missing an extended period of time because of a setback.

There's no doubt that Burrow wants to get in some preseason work, but getting completely healthy for Week One is absolutely the priority right now.
