The Colts have officially lost their 2nd rookie for the season due to injury. The team announced Saturday that they had placed offensive tackle Jake Witt on season-ending IR due to a hip injury.

The Colts drafted Witt with the 236th pick of the 7th round in the 2023 NFL Draft. Witt played two seasons of collegiate football at Northern Michigan from 2021-2022. Where he started all 22 games for the Northern Michigan Wildcats.

Before his time at Northern Michigan, Witt began his collegiate career playing basketball at Michigan Tech in 2018. His experience in basketball showed up during his draft process testing as Witt wowed multiple teams in private workouts and his pro day with his pure athleticism. This ability earned him an elite RAS grade from Ras.football, where he earned the 27th highest grade for an offensive tackle since 1987.

Witt is the 2nd 2023 Colts draft pick to be placed on season-ending IR, joining  5th-round pick Daniel Scott. The team and fans will have to wait a season before seeing the rookies make their debuts.
