New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has a big fan in new tight end Mike Gesicki.

The two have connected both on and off the field from offseason throwing sessions and a Taylor Swift concert to organized team activities practices.

“Mac’s awesome,” Gesicki said Tuesday after an OTAs session. “That’s my guy. He’s been incredible as a leader, been great out there physically throwing the ball, timing, throwing a very catchable ball and all of that kind of stuff. And he likes to have fun. It’s been a cool offseason for us trying to jell and get on the same page, and I think it’s been good.”

Jones and Gesicki posted a picture from the Swift concert with their partners, Sophie Scott and Halle Gesicki, plus tight end Hunter Henry and his wife, Parker. (Gesicki’s favorite Swift song is “Enchanted” for those wondering.)

Gesicki has seen a strong leader in Jones, who clearly looks like New England’s starting quarterback so far in practice.

“We’ve worked I think before OTAs started just real quick,” Gesicki said. “And then once we’ve been here we have everything we need here. So it's been good, and he's done a great job kind of leading the charge and doing his job to the best of his ability and bringing guys along with him.”

Jones said last week that he sees Henry and Gesicki forming a “duo” in New England. Both players were favorite targets of Jones on Tuesday with a depleted group of wide receivers.
