The New England Patriots are one of the teams reportedly interested in New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers are "in the mix" for the receiver. The Jets are expected to release Mims if they cannot find a trade partner.

Mims was selected by the Jets in the second round, 59th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. During his three seasons with the Jets, Mims has recorded 23 receptions for 676 yards and no touchdowns across 30 games.

The Patriots have been reportedly looking into free agents in recent weeks, aiming to add additional offensive weapons for quarterback Mac Jones.

And after losing out on DeAndre Hopkins, who signed with the Tennessee Titans, New England has had to look elsewhere.

Fox Sports' Henry McKenna further reported that Mims is 'expected to get released or traded tomorrow,' but are currently looking into trades with interested teams.

After bringing in Aaron Rodgers along with receivers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Malik Taylor, the Jets are looking to revamp their offense and Mims was not a part of that plan.

As for the Patriots, they have Juju Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Tyquan Thornton, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Raleigh Webb, Tre Nixon, Ed Lee, Malik Cunningham, and Demario Douglas all looking to become a top target this season.

But hey, what's a little more competition, right?
