Leonard Fournette wasn't the only free agent to visit Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that the New England Patriots also hosted running back Darrell Henderson who has spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Rams.
Henderson was drafted by the Rams in the third round (70th overall pick) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Rams, winning a Super Bowl with them in 2022.
In his four years with the Rams, Henderson had 396 carries for 1,742 yards and 13 touchdowns across 50 games.
The 5-foot-8, 208 pound running back only played 10 games during his final season in Los Angeles, being waived on Nov. 22, 2022.
He was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars just a day later, but was waived on Dec. 9, 2022. Henderson never appeared in a game for the Jaguars.
The Patriots have been connected to free agent Dalvin Cook in recent days, becoming the betting favorites to land the star running back. However, it appears they are now looking elsewhere, exploring all possible free agents to find the best fit.
But regardless, another running back would be welcome to help take some of the load off Rhamondre Stevenson.
