Sony Michel signs with Rams

One former New England Patriots running back has found himself in a familiar spot.

Sony Michel signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, the team announced.

The will be Michel's second stint with the Rams, after playing for Los Angeles during the 2021 season. The running back played in 17 games that year, with 208 carries for 845 yards and four touchdowns.

Michel was drafted by the Patriots in the first round (31st overall pick) in the 2018 draft. He remained with the team until the end of the 2021 season.

He played a key part in New England's Super Bowl LII victory, with Michel scoring the game's only touchdown to lead the Patriots to a 13-3 win over the Rams.

The Patriots then traded Michel to the Rams in August 2021 in exchange for a fifth and sixth round pick, which worked out for the running back. In his single season in Los Angeles, he won a Super Bowl after the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

His 2022 season was one of ups and downs, with Michel first signing with the Miami Dolphins on May 10, 2022, but was then released at the end of the August. Two days after his release from the the Dolphins, Michel went to the other team housed in Los Angeles, singing with the Chargers. He played in 10 games with 36 carries for 106 years before being released on December 31, 2022.

Across his five year career, Michel has a total of 779 carries for 3,243 yards and 18 touchdowns.
