The New England Patriots are in the right spot if they want to fill one of the biggest remaining needs on their roster in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Patriots enter the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft without an obvious starting left tackle or right tackle signed after the 2023 season and the 14th overall pick. Projected starting left tackle Trent Brown and free-agent signing Riley Reiff, the favorite to start on the right side, both are set to hit free agency during the 2024 offseason.

There are at least four offensive tackles expected to be selected in the first round, and BetOnline.ag set the over/under on draft position for a number of top prospects.

Jones, a left tackle, was the pick in our latest Patriots mock draft, and that certainly lines up with his over/under draft slot 14 1/2. Wright is a right tackle New England could take in the first round, and his over/under draft position is 15, right below the Patriots’ pick.

Johnson Jr. and Skoronski are expected to be off the board before New England is picking. The Patriots’ other major need is at cornerback, though they’ve shown substantial interest in top edge defenders and wide receivers, as well.

NESN.com's Zack Cox also passed along odds from FanDuel that have offensive line as the odds-on favorite for New England's first pick.

Quarterback, somewhat surprisingly, has the second-best odds. The Patriots did meet with Richardson — at the NFL Scouting Combine — and Kentucky's Will Levis — in a visit — during the pre-draft process.
