The Green Bay Packers (8-8) have crawled out of the depths of football Hell. A dominating win at home over the rival Minnesota Vikings has taken them from three games under .500 to a 'win and in' scenario this weekend versus the Detroit Lions (8-8).
With the current state of the NFC playoff picture, the turnout of the Packers game is only one factor for playoff matchups. How the Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys finish their regular seasons will factor in who the Packers could play in round one.
Regardless of what happens with the Seattle Seahawks vs the LA Rams, a Packers win puts them in the playoffs. They can only get the seventh seed, but these are the scenarios that need to play out.
- Philadelphia, San Francisco, Minnesota and Dallas all win. Green Bay plays San Francisco in round one.
- San Francisco wins, and Minnesota, Dallas and Philadelphia all lose. Green Bay plays Philadelphia in round one.
- San Francisco and Dallas, win but Philadelphia and Minnesota lose. Green Bay plays Dallas round one.
- Dallas wins, but San Francisco, Philadelphia and Minnesota all lose. Green Bay plays San Francisco round one.
- Minnesota wins, but Philadelphia, San Francisco and Dallas all lose. Green Bay plays Minnesota.
- Philadelphia wins, but Minnesota, San Francisco and Dallas all lose. Green Bay plays San Francisco round one.
- San Francisco, Dallas and Minnesota win, but Philadelphia loses. Green Bay plays Dallas in round one.
- San Francisco, Philadelphia and Minnesota win, but Dallas loses. Green Bay plays San Francisco in round one.
- Dallas and Minnesota win, but both San Francisco and Philadelphia lose. Green Bay plays Minnesota round one.
- Philadelphia, San Francisco, Minnesota and Dallas all lose. Green Bay plays San Francisco in round one.
Regardless of who the Green Bay Packers play in round one, they are the team that no one wants to play right now.
As long as the Packers beat the Lions this weekend, any of these scenarios will happen and Green Bay will bring their win streak on the road.
