The Eagles are one win away from bringing home their second-ever Lombardi Trophy. Coming into the season, no one really knew what to expect. Jalen Hurts had shown flashes but was never a consistently elite quarterback. Most had the Eagles pegged as a fringe playoff team that was not a real Super Bowl contender.
After just a couple of weeks, they had already proved everyone wrong. They started the season hot, winning their first eight games. They did not slow down there, eventually winning the NFC East and wrapping up the top seed in the NFC.
Hurts also proved every doubter wrong and had a massive breakout season. He made the Pro Bowl, was named to the All-Pro team and is an MVP finalist. He exceeded everyone's highest expectations and has comfortably solidified himself as an elite NFL QB.
The playoffs have also gone very smoothly for them so far. They have destroyed the Giants and 49ers en route to Arizona. Now they will face their toughest test of the season against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
There is no shortage of storylines in this game. Andy Ried was the head coach of the Eagles for 14 seasons before coming to Kansas City. Travis and Jason Kelce will become the first brothers to face off in a Super Bowl. However, the headlines will still be dominated by the incredible quarterback matchup.
Mahomes and Hurts were the two best QBs all year, and we will get to see them duel it out on the biggest stage.
The matchup to watch in this one will be the Eagles pass rush vs. the Chiefs offensive line. Mahomes has always done well against the blitz, but the Eagles are one of the best teams in the NFL at getting pressure without blitzing. If Haason Reddick and company can get to Mahomes, the Chiefs may struggle to keep up with the Eagles offense.
The Chiefs have the better quarterback, but the Eagles have built the better roster. I think the Eagles will continue their domination this season and come away with the win.
