Bears fans will have to wait to learn more about potential top pick
The Chicago Bears might have to wait longer than expected to get an answer on one top draft prospect.
One of the most coveted prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft has made his plans clear for the next couple of weeks.
University of Georgia standout Jalen Carter is widely considered to be one of the Chicago Bears’ top targets. Carter, who could be the most talented player in this draft class regardless of position, will not be working out at the NFC Combine.
Instead, Carter will do interviews and perform his physical in Indianapolis for the annual event. He is electing to do his workout at Georgia’s Pro Day, which is scheduled for March 15.
What the Bears will do with the No. 1 overall pick remains to be seen. The thought is that Chicago wants to stockpile draft picks by trading back, waiting for Carter to fall in their laps after the top quarterbacks go off the board.
There aren’t many things that Carter needs to show in his workout that teams haven’t already seen on tape. However his in-person interviews could go a long way in determining how the Bears approach the lead up to late-April’s draft.
