Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson

Former Buffalo Bills WR and fan-favorite Stevie Johnson made a guest appearance on Good Morning Football to talk all things Bills. From Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen to the Super Bowl, his interview had it all.

Johnson was one of the lone bright spots during one of the worst droughts in any major American sport. Buffalo had struggled mightily, something the Bills Mafia knows too well, 17 years and no playoffs.

During his remarkable tenure with the Bills, Johnson appeared in 76 games and finished with 301 receptions for 3832 yards and 28 touchdowns. He played for the Bills from 2008 to 2013. During that time, Johnson had the likes of Trent Edwards, J.P. Losman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brian Brohm, Tyler Thigpen, EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel throwing him the football.

Needless to say, he may not always have had the best talent around him. In fact, Buffalo never managed to get out of last place in the division while he was here, a disappointing occurrence for a city and fanbase that still holds near and dear to his heart.

During his interview, Johnson was asked about the Bills Mafia and their expectations coming into this season. With just a few words, Johnson has every member of the devout fanbase ready to run through a brick wall.

"Stevie, the past couple of years for Buffalo thought expectations have been through the roof. The team, still in pursuit of their first Super Bowl win. Some people say their window has closed, they had the best roster for a minute, they could have done it… How do you feel that Bills Mafia should approach this season in terms of their expectations?  Should they be matched, higher, or move of a cautionary tale at this point."

Johnson had a legendary response. For those who may be new fans of the Bills, or who may not be fans at all, there was a running joke for years that the Bills Mafia (or at least I) truly believed in. That this next season was going to be our year. Despite the fact that we may have finished last in the division, or barely squeaked away 4 or 5 wins, fans would look to the following season with bright eyes and optimism, matter-of-factly declaring that next year was our year, no matter how much it hurt the year prior.

Johnson, sharing the same sentiment we all shared years ago, started with just that.

"Look, every year is our year. It don't matter what happens the past year like, every year is our year. So, it's Super Bowl baby."

Buffalo, coming off a 13-3 season in which they saw their season fall flat in a brutal game against the Cincinnati Bengals, is looking to capture the team's first Super Bowl.

Von Miller is fighting to get back, Allen looks like he may have his best receiving core to date, Tre White is in his second year of recovery from a torn ACL, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde are back together, and so much more.

Stevie, like the rest of the Bills Mafia, believes firmly that next year is our year. However, the belief isn't as outlandish as it was 10 years ago. The Bills have arguably one of the best QBs in the NFL, with a dominant defense to go along with it and back-to-back-to-back AFC East championships.

While we're at it, throw Stevie Johnson up on the Wall of Fame. We don't need to be reasoned with. If that fires you up, and you get angry at that notion, we just have one question: why so serious?
