Bills’ Josh Allen gets some advice from Steve Spagnuolo seconds after the game, and he shouldn’t listen for a second
Josh Allen got some advice, though it wasn’t what he should be listening to at all. It was all good fun between he and Steve Spagnuolo.
Ahead of the win against the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had quite the comment about facing off against Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
“No, he’s awesome,” Allen said. “After the game, we always kind of share a quick little, I wouldn’t say embrace, but a quick little tap, whatever it is. Got a lot of respect for him, he’s one of the best in the business, if not the best in the business. Shows you a lot of different looks and he knows how to call a football game, that’s for sure.”
Needless to say, cameras were ready when the two met in the middle of the field after the game ended, with Spagnuolo offering some advice for No. 17. Allen shouldn’t even consider listening to the future Hall of Fame defensive coordinator, respectfully.
“I don’t want to play you anymore,” Spagnuolo said. “I want you to retire! Nice job.”
Allen put on a clinic against the Chiefs
You can’t really blame Spagnuolo for his comments after such a brilliant performance by Allen. Once again, the reigning MVP put the team on his back and was instrumental in the victory. With two rushing touchdowns, Allen became the all-time leader for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history, not a bad day at the office.
Allen was dissecting the Chiefs’ defense, recording his highest career completion percentage, finishing the day going 23-for-26 with 273 yards and a touchdown pass.
It hasn’t always looked this smooth for Buffalo’s offense this year. The rhythm, timing, and consistency have all been questioned. But against Kansas City, Allen looked calm and confident, the version of No. 17 that makes the Bills a legitimate contender.
If Allen keeps playing with that edge and composure, the Bills might finally be finding their stride when it matters most. Unfortunately for Spagnuolo, Allen isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
