Jordan Love status update sparks intriguing scenario that could influence how the Packers handle the final stretch
Quarterback Jordan Love is officially listed as questionable to play against the Ravens.
The Green Bay Packers are still hopeful that quarterback Jordan Love will be able to play on Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite suffering a concussion during the second quarter of the Chicago Bears game last weekend, Love practiced on a limited basis throughout the week and is officially listed as questionable to play.
The fact that Jordan Love practiced is a great indication about his status. Last week, for example, tight end Josh Whyle missed the entire week of practice, and therefore missed the Bears game.
Five-step process
Jordan Love still has to be cleared to play and get out of the concussion protocol, a five-step process created by the NFL to protect players. But Love being able to practice is an indication that he’s advancing to get the green light.
Quarterback situation
The other Packers quarterback on the active roster is also questionable to play. Backup Malik Willis suffered a shoulder injury on the final play of regulation against the Bears. He was able to play in overtime, and was limited on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he had an illness added to his report and did not practice, but would have been able to practice on Thursday — it was just a walkthrough, so it’s an estimation.
The third quarterback is Clayton Tune, who’s on the practice squad — he would have to be promoted to the 53-man roster or elevated for gameday to be available on Saturday.
Packers injury report
In addition to Love and Williams, the Packers have five other players listed as questionable for the Ravens game: Cornerback Bo Melton (illness), center Sean Rhyan (knee/illness), right tackle Zach Tom (back/knee), wide receiver Christian Watson (shoulder/illness), safety Evan Williams (knee). Running back Josh Jacobs, though, is off the injury report and will play.
On the active roster, linebacker Kristian Welch (ankle) is the only one already ruled out. Guard John Williams (back) is also out, but he’s still on the physically unable to perform list.
On the other side, quarterback Lamar Jackson is doubtful to play with a back injury, a strong indication that the Ravens will have Tyler Huntley at quarterback.
