Titans brass hosting Matt Nagy for dinner Sunday in Nashville ahead of head coach finalist interview Monday
As Titans are narrowing their head coaching search, they’re spending extra time with Matt Nagy in Nashville
The Tennessee Titans’ coaching search is in the endgame.
They have two finalist interviews scheduled for Monday: Chiefs OC Matt Nagy and 49ers DC Robert Saleh. And Titans’ brass got the process started early on Sunday night with Nagy in Nashville.
Matt Nagy wines and dines with Titans as a finalist
Nagy is up first for head coach consideration this week, as sources tell A to Z Sports he got dinner with Titans leadership at a steakhouse in Nashville on Sunday evening.
Nagy was increasingly considered the favorite for the job as the only “available” finalist announced for the Titans until Sunday afternoon, when Robert Saleh’s previously scheduled initial Zoom interview was canceled and rescheduled as an in-person finalist interview on Monday. The Titans brass felt confident enough in their research to skip to the final stage.
Packers DC Jeff Hafley is technically the Titans’ third official finalist, and his interview is scheduled for Tuesday. However, the national expectation is that he won’t make it out of Miami on Monday, where he’s projected to get hired as the Dolphins’ next head coach.
I expect the Titans to make a hire within the next 48 hours, perhaps even before the end of Monday.
