The Seattle Seahawks made history in more ways than one with their dominant Super Bowl LX victory
The Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory was a historic day all around.
The Seattle Seahawks thoroughly trounced the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. It was a final score of 29-13, but the game never felt as close as the box score would indicate. Seattle’s Death Star of a defense had the Patriots’ offense in an anaconda vice all game long, and their offense did enough early on before the flood gates finally opened up late to truly put New England to bed.
Not only was Seattle’s day historic defensively, with a Super Bowl-record seven sacks and approximately 140 pressures (only slightly exaggerated), but their offense finished their epic playoff run by achieving something that nobody else has ever done in history.
The Seahawks became the first team to win a Super Bowl without a single turnover in the playoffs. No team, in the history of the NFL, has ever accomplished such a feat.
Sam Darnold turned the page with historic Super Bowl achievement
Perhaps the reason why that statistic is simply so jarring is because of Seahawks’ quarterback Sam Darnold, whose career can succinctly be summarized as volatile. Routinely throughout his career, Darnold has crumbled under pressure and made numerous mistakes that end up costing his team the win.
Even this season in Seattle, games like the first matchup against the Rams in Week 11 or in their Week 13 matchup against the Vikings, Darnold’s performance fell off a cliff, and had many doubting if he was the quarterback who could get Seattle over the hump in the playoffs.
He responded by throwing for 672 yards and five touchdowns across all three postseason games, including a tremendous day against the Rams in the NFC Championship game.
Cherry on top over NFC West rival
The Seattle Seahawks also get to rub some salt in the wound over their NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers. Not only did Seattle win a Super Bowl in the 49ers’ stadium, but they also put up a much better showing than the 49ers did all season long.
The Seahawks took down the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship, and then dunked on the 49ers in their own stadium to win a Super Bowl. It’s a great day to be a fan of the Seahawks, and a bitter one for the rest of the NFC West.

Sam Darnold hits Vikings fans where it hurts the most by invoking famous Kevin Garnett quote after Super Bowl LX victory
It’s bad enough that the Minnesota Vikings haven’t won a Super Bowl, and Sam Darnold’s postgame quote made it hurt that much more.
