One of the biggest questions facing Bills’ new wide receiver DJ Moore has just been answered in a big way
Bills Mafia didn’t have to wait long to get an answer.
The NFL free agency is one of the most fun times of the year. But before Buffalo could get busy picking up some new players during the official start of free agency, the team was busy making a trade for former Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.
Moore immediately elevates the entire room and gives quarterback Josh Allen and the offense a much-needed weapon. He immediately slots in as the No. 1 option for Buffalo.
One of the biggest questions surrounding Moore had nothing to do with his abilities on the field, but rather what jersey he was going to wear this season. News broke on Friday, giving fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for. It’s been confirmed that Moore will wear the number 2 with the Bills, taking the number from kicker Tyler Bass.
Normally, in these kinds of situations, players would buy the number or make a trade of some sort to get the number from another player. It’s unclear at this time what went on with Moore swiping the number from Bass, but we can’t wait to hear more about it.
DJ Moore isn’t the only Buffalo Bill donning a new number in 2026
Outside of Moore, a handful of players are going to be changing numbers for the Buffalo Bills. As we mentioned, Bass having his number taken forces him to pick a new one, and it appears he’s chosen 16 as his new jersey number.
Wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. is changing his number from 16 to 1, running back Ray Davis is changing his number from 22 to 7, and pass rusher Greg Rousseau is changing his number from 50 to 15 – going back to his college roots with the decision.
We also got an official update on the new guys joining the squad. Quarterback Kyle Allen will wear number 11, EDGE Bradley Chubb will wear number 9, and cornerback Dee Alford will wear number 23.
With so many new faces and number changes across the roster, Bills fans might need a minute to adjust when the team takes the field.
One thing is certain, though, the number 2 jersey will have plenty of attention on it with Moore now catching passes from Josh Allen.
