Latest NFL Draft intel reveals Patriots are prepared to fix their biggest weakness that cost them Super Bowl
The Patriots are prepared to go all in on protecting their franchise QB Drake Maye in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The New England Patriots are looking ahead to the 2026 season after coming up just short of a Super Bowl win, but they’re also looking back to what their biggest weaknesses were.
The Patriots have added some top talent in free agency, including WR Romeo Doubs, which will certainly help QB Drake Maye, but they also addressed their biggest need, the offensive line. They signed LG Alijah Vera-Tucker to a three-year, $42 million deal, but they need to do more. The latest NFL Draft intel shows they’re doing their homework on an underrated prospect who can help.
The New England Patriots are hosting IOL Jeremiah Wright for a top-30 visit
The Patriots are headed into the 2026 NFL Draft with a roster that just won the AFC, and 11 picks to work with, so the roster will look much different, but improved. Eight of their 11 picks are in the fourth round and beyond, so they have a chance to land underrated talent who could turn into gems for head coach Mike Vrabel.
They already have their eyes on one fast-rising prospect who could be their selection with the No. 131 overall pick, and he could quickly become a quality guard. The Patriots are bringing in Auburn RG Jeremiah Wright for a top-30 visit after dominating at the Senior Bowl in front of scouts.
Wright has been a standout offensive lineman throughout the NFL Draft process, and the Patriots want him at their facilities to get a closer look.
Jeremiah Wright can be a steal for the Patriots
Wright is a tone setter on the offensive line at 6-5, 340 pounds, and he brings a ton of experience to the NFL with over 2,000 snaps played in college. He fits everything the Patriots look for with a high competitive toughness, and his willingness to finish through blocks to set an example.
2026 is RG Mike Owenu’s last season under contract, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Wright impresses enough in his rookie season to take over in 2027. Vrabel and the Patriots have done plenty of homework on the offensive line this offseason, and rightfully so after Maye was the most sacked QB in 2025 with 68 sacks. They can’t let that happen again if they want a run back to the Super Bowl.
