NASHVILLE — First-year Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh will see many familiar faces when his team kicks off 2026. Multiple reports confirm that Tennessee will host the New York Jets at Nissan Stadium in Week 1 of the season.
Saleh coached Gang Green from 2021-2024.
Robert Saleh has a huge opportunity
It is the rare must-win game right out of the gates.
Saleh was fired by New York five games into his last year with the club. Overall as head coach, Saleh finished with a record of 20-36. The Jets did not make the postseason once during his tenure.
Saleh’s best regular season performance were back-to-back 7-10 finishes in 2022 and 2023.
Now, with a new opportunity in Tennessee, Saleh can prove the Jets wrong. Stakes are massive for a Titans team that revamped nearly the entire coaching staff and roster since January. Losing to a New York team coached by Saleh’s embattled successor, Aaron Glenn.
The Jets finished 3-14, the same record as Tennessee, in 2025.
Expectations are not high for the Titans this year. Saleh hired former Giants coach Brian Daboll and former Jaguars coach Gus Bradley as coordinators, creating cautious optimism. A near total roster flip around second-year quarterback Cam Ward should also immediately raise this team’s floor.
Lose to the Jets in Week 1, however, and risk flushing months of good will and progress down the drain.
The full NFL 2026 Schedule Release will be revealed on May 14 at 6:30 pm CT.
