Florida Gators HC Jon Sumrall remains on an insane recruiting heater by landing his fifth commitment of the week
It’s been an insane week of recruiting for the Florida Gators, and it got even better on Saturday with another blue-chip commitment.
We’ve talked a lot about how great the Florida Gators have been on a massive hot streak when it comes to recruiting. Head coach Jon Sumrall has been thriving in nearly every aspect of recruiting, having one of the best recruiting starts we’ve ever seen from a Gators head coach.
This week, he’s landed five commitments, bringing the total to 21.
- Four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson
- Four-star linebacker Ja’Bios Smith
- Four-star defensive lineman Zahmar Tookes
- Four-star defensive lineman Cahron Wheeler
- Three-star athlete Kamarion Johnson
That number grew by one, as the Gators landed a commitment from four-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin.
Florida Gators 2027 Recruiting Class
- In Jon Sumrall’s first season, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class with 22 commitments.
- Among their commitments, four of their top ones are on the offensive line, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
- Sumrall is chasing multiple five-star recruits, including two at wide receiver and the No. 1 overall recruit in Texas Tech commitment Jalen Brewster.
Florida Gators secure commitment from four-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin
It’s a nice addition for the Gators to land McGaskin. A linebacker out of Mobile, Alabama, McGaskin is a four-star recruit per the Rivals’ Industry Ranking, and the No. 30 overall linebacker. He joins fellow four-star Ja’Bios Smith as one of the two linebackers in the Gators’ recruiting class.
It’s an impressive duo of linebackers that the Gators have landed in the last week, and it strengthens a defensive class that is now at 10 commits, with Kamarion Johnson possibly being an 11th depending on whether he will play offense or defense.
The Gators are far from done recruiting. They still have two more massive visiting weekends to earn even more commitments, and they still have plenty of elite targets left on the board.
Sumrall has now landed a whopping 22 recruits after landing McGaskin.
