Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn may have just accidentally revealed just how bad training camp was last season under Pete Carroll
The Las Vegas Raiders have gotten their training camp under control with Klint Kubiak, but the way Jeremy Chinn said what he said seems like, under Pete Carroll, things were very different.
The Las Vegas Raiders are doing things a bit differently around Las Vegas now. They have rookie head coach Klint Kubiak, and by the way he’s doing things, you’d think he’s probably a veteran head coach. According to some of the players, it’s a night-and-day difference between him and Pete Carroll at Raiders training camp
Safety Jeremy Chinn may have accidentally slipped in roasting, or whatever you want to call it, the way things were done the year before. And I’m sure these guys still love Pete Carroll, the former head coach. But the way Chinn said this tells me there’s certainly some distaste with the way things were done last season.
“Yeah, it does,” Chinn said when asked by reporters if it feels like a different organization with all the changes that were made. “Actually, we watched clips from practice yesterday in the team meeting, and it was like, wow, not embarrassing, but we are so much better now.”
The tone certainly comes off as if he was saying just how bad it was last year. And not him saying how bad they were as a team, although that could have been it. It feels like he was talking about the way they practice and the way things are being done. Because the original question had to do with that.
The Raiders should be a much better team in 2026 than under Pete Carroll
There is a realistic expectation that this team should win at least six games in 2026. Many are expecting them to double their win total in 2026. And that shouldn’t be hard because they won just three games last season. But many believe that’s possible solely because of the better roster they have put together.
But that’s also possible because Kubiak could just end up being a better coach in 2026 than Carroll was last year. Not only that, but it feels like they also have a better staff around Kubiak. It’s going to be a fun season to watch for multiple reasons. But the biggest reason is that they are simply going to compete better than they did last year. Every game, they should be in it.
