New report offers the latest update on whether Texas star pass rusher Colin Simmons is expected to play against Tennessee

Texas pass rusher Colin Simmons left the Longhorns’ game last Saturday against UTSA due to injury.
Simmons was seen in the second half in street clothes and a walking boot.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game that removing Simmons from the game was “more precautionary” than anything.
Sarkisian, however, referred to the SEC injury report on Monday when asked about Simmons’ status for the Longhorns’ game against the Tennessee Vols in Knoxville this weekend.
So what’s the deal?
Well, on Tuesday, Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported that the current feeling in Austin is that Simmons will play against Tennessee.
“After catching up with sources, we’re hearing Simmons has multiple bangs and bruises,” wrote Wells. “Even with those issues, we believe he’ll still likely play vs No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday. We expect to see Simmons’ name appear on Wednesday night’s SEC Injury Report with some sort of designation, with PROBABLE making the most sense.”
Simmons, who had 12 sacks as a sophomore last season, is a gamechanger, and even if he’s not 100 percent, he’s more than capable of wreaking havoc in the Vols’ backfield.
