The latest Puka Nacua injury update is exactly what Rams fans didn’t want to hear
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay gave another update about WR Puka Nacua and…it doesn’t sound great.
The Los Angeles Rams‘ quest for an all-in season is still just getting underway. But boy, this team has had its share of adversity already.
The team’s disastrous decision to fly into Australia at the last moment. The Myles Garrett injury. And now? A developing injury situation for star receiver Puka Nacua — that just got an uninspiring update. Head coach Sean McVay went on the air with ESPN Los Angeles and offered the latest on Puka, which now opens up plenty of speculation for where things go from here.
The latest update on Rams star receiver Puka Nacua is…not great
“We’ll see. You know, he’s not making great progress. But we’ll love to welcome Puka back with open arms but if not I’ve got a ton of confidence in the group that we will go with if he doesn’t go.”
— LA Rams head coach Sean McVay
WELP. Look, the Rams have plenty of depth and plenty of contributors beyond Nacua. Just look at what Davante Adams did to the New York Giants in Week 2. And if Adams is the primary guy against Denver, so be it. That’s why you’re paying him. And, frankly, as long as the Rams don’t need to write Nacua out for an extended period of time, I’d feel pretty good about sustaining success, too.
Remember, this Rams team went 13 personnel heavy at the drop of a hat last year. They’ve invested more into the tight end room. And they still have a gifted offensive line and running game around QB Matthew Stafford. So in a short-term window, missing Puka should be something the Rams can digest.
You just have to hope that it stays a short-term window. Now is the time to zoom and and keep a long-term, big picture mindset. That’s exactly what the team did with Myles Garrett. And now they’ll need to ensure they do the same with Puka. Even if everyone involved was hoping this situation would blow over quickly.
