Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, returned to the field on Friday night after missing the last month due to a foot injury.
The 2030 quarterback, who is a freshman at Baylor School in Chattanooga, saw some playing time on Friday night in a 45-17 win over Montgomery Bell.
Marshall is the backup to senior Keegan Croucher, a four-star quarterback who is committed to Ole Miss.
Marshall completed four-of-four pass attempts for 42 yards in his brief action on Friday night.
Baylor head coach Erik Kimrey is hoping to get Marshall action in every game that remains this season as the young quarterback prepares to take over as the program’s starter in 2027.
“I want Marshall to play in every game this year,” said Kimrey earlier this season. “Even if it’s just two plays like that. Hopefully, it’ll be a lot more. But we need him next year, and he needs to get ready. And you guys that have covered us before, you know I’ve always let my backups play in non-region games.”
Marshall’s recruitment hasn’t really kicked off just yet, but numerous big-time programs are expected to be in the mix once it does.
