The Miami Dolphins seem to be on the cusp of some much needed good injury news after the De’Von Achane injury
The Miami Dolphins lost their best player for the season on Sunday against the Chiefs. But they may be getting some explosive weapons back in the mix this week.
The Miami Dolphins‘ latest injury news was nothing but bad. Star running back De’Von Achane was placed on injured reserve yesterday after suffering a torn ACL in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
As the Dolphins look to pick up the pieces offensively, it sounds like their next injury developments could be GOOD news that helps the offense. Because a candidate to replace Achane in the backfield and the team’s most physically gifted pass catcher are both ‘day-to-day’ in their respective returns from injuries of their own. WR Caleb Douglas and RB Jaylen Wright sound like they could be back at any point.
Miami Dolphins skill players Caleb Douglas and Jaylen Wright are both considered ‘day-to-day’ after missing Week 3 versus Chiefs

The Dolphins dialed up several deep shots against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday without Douglas in the fray. Tight end Greg Dulcich was the only one that connected, with several close calls to fellow rookie receivers Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman, plus veteran Malik Washington. The deep ball happens to be a projected strength of Douglas’ game — so it’s not a stretch to say that Miami missed him. He’ll be day-to-day, per Hafley on Monday.
So, too, will Jaylen Wright. Wright has the kind of home-run hitting ability that could give him a crack at seizing the primary role in the Achane-less backfield. Back in the summer, head coach Jeff Hafley praised his skill set as a fit for Miami behind Achane.
“He’s fast, explosive. When he hits it and gets vertical, he can really go. I think he’s a good scheme fit, I love the way he practices. I love the way he finishes. And he’s compact. He’s strong. He’s a harder guy to tackle. And excited to see him in live settings,” said Hafley during Training Camp.
We may be seeing him in a live setting this weekend. After missing Week 3 with a stinger, Wright is also described by Jeff Hafley as ‘day-to-day’.
If the Miami Dolphins can get them both back in time for Week 4 against Minnesota, the team will their best explosive option to take Achane’s roles…and the pass catcher best suited to connect on the targets the Dolphins couldn’t hit in Week 3 against the Chiefs. That’d be something to celebrate; and the Dolphins need that more than ever right now.
