The Tennessee Vols lost a commitment from a 2027 four-star recruit on Monday morning.
Four-star defensive lineman Christian Mays committed to Tennessee in early June, but he flipped to Georgia on Monday.
Mays, 6-foot-5/340 lbs from Lakewood, CO, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 junior college defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 3 overall junior college player in the 2027 recruiting class.
“Just wanted to express how thankful I am for the whole Tennessee program for recruiting me and believing in me,” tweeted Mays on Monday. “After a lot of thought and prayer and deep conversations with my family, I’ve decided to decommit from Tennessee and [I am] now committed to The University of Georgia.”
Mays took an official visit to Georgia this past weekend for the Bulldogs’ loss to the Auburn Tigers.
Interestingly, when Tennessee took Mays’ commitment earlier this summer, it pushed four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife to decommit from the Vols. Fife has since committed to Louisville.
