The Florida Gators have one of the best recruiting classes in 2027. Head coach Jon Sumrall has the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation, while being tied for third most with 17 blue-chip recruits.

Within the recruiting class, the Gators have one five-star recruit: offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. The No. 2 overall recruit per Rivals committed to the Gators back in April, and has been strong in his commitment. Still, other schools are trying to flip him from Florida, mainly the LSU Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers.

Despite other programs working on trying to flip Hiller, he is still committed to the program.

“Those are definitely the schools I hear from the most other than Florida, but I don’t see myself doing anything with it,” said Hiller.

There is one area that stands above everything else is how much Hiller believes in the Gators. One reason why the Gators are likely to keep the commitment of Hiller is simple: he plans to be on campus for 2-3 games, per Gators Online.

“Hiller is expected to attend two or three home games this season, including the opener against FAU and Florida’s Oct. 10 matchup with South Carolina. Between Florida’s NIL plan, the long-standing relationship he’s built with offensive line coach Phil Trautwein and the culture Jon Sumrall has established in Gainesville, we continue to like where the Gators stand with their highest-ranked commitment.”

When the Gators end up retaining Hiller, it won’t be a surprise.
