The Georgia Bulldogs think they are the No. 1 team in the country. Meanwhile, they’re ranked No. 2, with a fire and hunger to prove to everyone they deserve that top spot. Hosting Vanderbilt at home will be a good way to show that.

On the other hand, Vanderbilt is transitioning from the Diego Pavia era in a fine way. They’re not a bad football team, and certainly not the team we all knew before Clark Lea became head coach. This team could surprise a lot of people this year. So, will that happen on Saturday in Athens?

Final score predictions: Georgia vs. Vanderbilt

Justin Churchill, A to Z Oklahoma: Georgia 34, Vanderbilt 17

The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off a win where they embarrassed the Oklahoma Sooners. This may be the most balanced team in college football. Their offense can win through the air with Stockton and Taylor becoming an elite duo. And on the ground, they run the ball extremely well, as they always do. Defensively, they have some issues in the secondary, but they’re very good at stopping the run. All of that is a recipe for disaster for Vanderbilt. The matchup just isn’t good for what Vanderbilt does well, and they will likely rely on explosive plays, which Georgia does give up from time to time. That just won’t be enough to win between the hedges.

Rob Gregson, A to Z Alabama: Georgia 40, Vanderbilt 10

I think this game is going to get ugly for Vandy. Starting QB Jared Curtis has a tenuous relationship with the Bulldogs, to say the least, after a rollercoaster recruitment, and I don’t think Kirby Smart and the defense will take it easy on the freshman. Chris Cole and the 2026 Dawgs absolutely fly around and look the closest they have since Georgia won back-to-back national championships. That’s a recipe for disaster for a Vanderbilt offense starting a freshman at quarterback and one the Bulldogs have history with. I think this one is a breeze for Georgia between the hedges.

Tyler Forness, A to Z Florida: Georgia 31, Vanderbilt 30

This game is very intriguing to me. Defensively, Vanderbilt matches up well with the Bulldogs. They are solid, especially against the pass. The one concerning area is allowing rushing explosives. If they can keep those to a minimum, they have a chance. Why do I think this game could be close?

Simple: the Commodores do a good job generating explosives, and while the Bulldogs’ defense is just as good at preventing them on the ground (85th percentile) as the Commodores are at generating them (90th percentile), the biggest difference is through the air. True freshman five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has a ton of arm talent and arm arrogance, resulting in a 49th percentile pass game explosive play rate and a 75th percentile rate overall, while the Bulldogs are in the 12th percentile in the passing game and the 32nd overall. That keeps Vandy in the game, but they can’t quite close it out.

Craig Smith, A to Z Miami: Georgia 44, Vanderbilt 10

This Georgia team is playing like the No. 1 team in the country, and they proved it last week in all three phases against Oklahoma in an impressive 41-13 shellacking of the Sooners. They are motivated, physical, and executing at a high level, and that’s bad news for whoever they play, with the Commodores in Athens this week.

Forget about the upset potential here. You need an experienced quarterback to push the Bulldogs’ defense, and while the future is bright, Georgia DC Glenn Schumann is going to confuse Jared Curtis into multiple turnovers. The Dores sell out to stop Nate Frazier, and it doesn’t work, as they have no answers for Gunner Stockton and the Dawgs’ diverse, explosive passing attack. The starters are out by the fourth quarter.

Ryan Roberts, A to Z Notre Dame: Georgia 38, Vanderbilt 10

Vanderbilt quarterback Jared Curtis should have a few highlight-reel moments against Georgia, showcasing the talent that makes him such an intriguing young quarterback. But for the most part, this matchup will be a massive learning experience for Curtis. Georgia’s defense is simply too fast, creating problems up front and making it hard for Vanderbilt to consistently stay ahead of the chains.

On the other side, Nate Frazier and Gunner Stockton lead the way for Georgia’s offense. Frazier finds success on the ground while Stockton makes enough plays to keep the Bulldogs moving, allowing Georgia to build a comfortable lead as the game progresses. Vanderbilt flashes throughout the afternoon, but the Bulldogs’ speed and overall depth take over in the second half as Georgia cruises to a 38-10 victory.
