Miami Hurricanes confirm suspicion on social media about rumored upcoming uniform reveal
The Canes are throwing it back to 2001 this year.
It’s been a quarter of a century since the Miami Hurricanes fielded arguably the greatest team in the history of college football. But the Hurricanes will honor that national championship team in more ways than one during a year where Miami hopes to get back to the top of the college football world
The Hurricanes released a video clip on Twitter (X) on Monday morning of the 2001 throwback jerseys that they will wear this season, something that had been rumored among the fan base this year.
Miami Hurricanes reveal 2001 throwback uniforms for this season
The Hurricanes revealed two separate looks, both home and away. The Adidas jerseys shown have what appear to be the exact same design from those early 2000s uniforms, from the number font and size to the outlines above the numbers.
Miami wore orange and green solid tops at home, but it looks like they’ll be going with the orange ones this year. They also revealed a white top and green pant combo, which was a common road uniform for the early 2000s teams.
The Hurricanes are also honoring the 2001 national championship team, which went 12-0 and won the Rose Bowl 37-14 over Nebraska to clinch the school’s fifth title, on October 24 against the Pittsburgh Panthers. The school is giving away replica 2001 championship rings to season ticket holders throughout the season as well.
It looks like Miami will be dressing like a national champion this season. We’ll find out in the coming months if they can play like one as well.
