Miami Hurricanes suffer two brutal season-ending losses, and one came out of left field and will test their depth immediately
It was a rough injury update on Monday morning from Mario Cristobal.
The Miami Hurricanes picked up their second conference win of the season on Friday night, defeating Wake Forest on the road 33-20. It was a game that saw the Hurricanes cruising 31-7 before coasting perhaps to the finish line a bit, as the Demon Deacons made things interesting in the fourth quarter.
But the win came with a great cost, as it turns out. Two big costs.
Mario Cristobal went on “The Joe Rose Show” on Monday morning to give his weekly update, and he advised that RB CharMar “Marty” Brown and WR Josh Moore suffered season-ending injuries in the game.

Moore’s loss comes at a surprise, as his injury was not apparent during the game. He played into the fourth quarter, catching a pass early in the period. He showed his importance early in the contest against Wake, catching a nine-yard touchdown from Darian Mensah to put the Hurricanes up 7-0. Through three games, Moore had been rotating primarily with Daylyn Upshaw at WR3. He had seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Brown’s injury, on the other hand was not at all surprising, as he was tackled in the second quarter on a 32-yard run down to the one-yard line, but his knee appeared to twist at an awkward angle, and he was carted from the sideline to the locker room. Cristobal didn’t specify the injury, but he didn’t really need to with the way things looked in the moment on Friday night.
Miami’s depth with be tested quickly, but the Hurricanes are particularly deep and talented at the running back and wide receiver positions, so we’ll see starting on Saturday against Central Michigan who the next man up will be to fill their roles in the Hurricanes’ offense.
