The Miami Hurricanes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a memorable battle last year, both on the field and in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Hurricanes came out on top in both after winning 27-24 in the regular season opener before advancing all the way to the national championship game.

However, it looks like Notre Dame might be about to pick up a big victory over the Hurricanes off the field.

Five star OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola (Carteret, NJ) has set his announcement date for Tuesday, and he will decide between Notre Dame, Miami, and Texas A&M. According to multiple insiders, Notre Dame is expected to be the pick for Olubobola.

Notre Dame the favorite to land five-star OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola

Olubobola checks in as the No. 25 overall recruit, No. 3 offensive tackle, and the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey for the 2027 cycle in the On3/Rivals industry rankings. He would become the first five-star commit for the Irish in their 2027 class, per On3/Rivals.

Olubobola visited Notre Dame for their spring game last month, and the Irish made quite the impression on the big lineman. In fact, according to On3/Rivals insider Steve Wiltfong, Miami has moved on and targeted other recruits, which is a further tipping point as far as which way Tuesday night is going to go for the Irish.

Recruiting is never an exact science, but for those looking for some good news on the Irish recruiting front, tuning into Olubobola’s announcement on Tuesday on YouTube is probably a worthwhile investment of time for Notre Dame fans.
