Ohio State basketball’s Jake Diebler will be meeting with an SEC guard in the transfer portal this week
The Ohio State basketball program has made three transfer portal additions so far, and another could soon be on the way with a former LSU Tiger.
The Ohio State basketball program is up to three transfer portal additions after former Duquesne guard Jimmie Williams landed with the Buckeyes.
There’s still a need for another guard for the Buckeyes, likely a point guard to come off the bench and take some of the primary ball-handling duties. Jake Diebler and the Ohio State coaching staff are now being connected to a former SEC guard in the portal.
Ohio State to have a key transfer portal visit this week
The Buckeyes will get a visit from former LSU Tigers G Jalen Reece this week after recently landing Williams from the portal, first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton. Reece will take visits to Texas A&M and Missouri as well as to get to campus in Columbus.
Reece averaged 12 points and 6.8 assists per game in his final eight games of SEC play. He shot 37 percent from deep during those eight games. The 6-foot point guard started 10 of the 32 games he played for at LSU last week and he averaged 5.8 points and 3.6 assists per game.
In the class of 2024, Reece was a four-star prospect out of the Orlando Florida area. According to 247 Sports, Reece was the No. 76 player and No. 10 point guard in the class of 2025.
Ohio State has to make at least one more addition from the portal in terms of players set to get minutes in 2026. Reece would fit the mold as a player who can be a nice role player for the Buckeyes and he would bring SEC experience to the team.
The visit will be key and getting a commitment on campus would be the best-case scenario for Ohio State. A to Z Sports will have the news for you when Diebler scores Ohio State’s fourth portal addition.
