For the second time in three seasons, the Dallas Mavericks will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas day.
The only difference now is they will play in Dallas as opposed to Los Angeles this season. First reported by Marc Stein, multiple reports since then have stated that Lebron James and the Lakers will be traveling to Dallas to face the Mavericks on Christmas Day.
The first draft of next season’s NBA schedule has Lakers at Dallas/LeBron at Luka on Christmas Day, league sources tell me.
Changes are still possible before the full schedule officially drops next week but Christmas games usually hold.

The NBA’s preliminary schedule also features matchups such as Bucks at Celtics, 76ers at Knicks, Suns at Nuggets and Grizzlies at Warriors.
In 2021, the Mavericks faced the Jazz without Luka Doncic on Christmas Day and lost 120-114. Dallas also played the Lakers in the pandemic truncated 2020 season, where the team lost 138-115 with Doncic scoring 27, while James and co-star Anthony Davis combined for 50 points on Christmas Day.
With the Lakers continuing to age, and two losses in a row on Christmas, the Mavericks may have an opportunity to reverse course in the 2022 season.
