Sunday is a very important game against the Washington Football Team. Obviously, for the Chiefs, this game will be used to help them get back on track. With a now 2-3 record, the Chiefs season looks as if it is starting to fall apart.

However, there is some other reason this game against the Washington Football Team is important. There is a player making their first career start on Sunday, a guy who has been on the team since 2018, making him one of the longest-tenured guys on the roster.

Darrel Williams, the undrafted running back in 2018 will make his first career start on Sunday, in which he rightfully deserves this shot. If anyone deserves this, it’s Darrel Williams, who should be in line for a great game against the Washington Football Team.

Darrel Williams to get the nod vs Washington

The undrafted running back from the 2018 draft class has carved out quite the career thus far considering the obstacles he has had to overcome.

Coming from LSU, he was the backup to star running back Leonard Fournette for most of his college career. Now, he is the backup to another former LSU running back in Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

“It would mean a lot to me,” is how Williams answered when asked about his feelings towards starting Sunday. “I have worked my whole life to be a starter in this league, I finally get the chance, I finally get the opportunity. I just have to make the most of it.”

Darrel Williams has given the media great quotes all year, and a couple in the most recent media availability. On Wednesday, Williams was asked what he has improved in the most over the last few years being in the NFL, his answer is one every fan likes to hear.

“Just being consistent,” Williams stated. “Finding holes and hitting them and accelerating through, not shying away from anything and just leaving everything on the field.”

It doesn’t seem as if anyone is doubting Darrel Williams, who has shown he can play in the big games. Last season, the fourth-year running back came up big time in the playoffs. Kansas City will need him to do that again. There is a lot riding on these next few weeks, in which Williams will be the starter. If anyone is worried it definitely isn’t Darrel Williams.
