On Saturday, the Tennessee Vols landed a massive commitment from 2025 four-star wide receiver Travis Smith Jr.
Smith, 6-foot-4/199 lbs from Atlanta, GA, committed to Tennessee over Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia on Saturday evening. The Georgia native is rated as the No. 15 wide receiver in the nation (via 247Sports).
Shortly after Smith announced his commitment, one of the Vols' biggest remaining 2025 recruiting targets took to social media to react to the news.
Five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr tagged Smith on his Instagram story, writing "mhmmmmm" with an eyeball emoji 👀 and some exclamation points.
Sanders, who is rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class, is set to announce his commitment on August 17. He revealed earlier this month that his final four schools are Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
It's Ohio State and Tennessee, though, that are considered the two programs to beat for the elite offensive lineman.
There are rumblings that Sanders could take another round of visits at the end of July before making his decision in August.
The Vols are feeling pretty good about their chances of landing Sanders. His reaction to Smith's commitment to Tennessee should only increase that optimism.
