‘This is who they’re gonna get’ – Former Georgia star David Pollack predicts the final score of Tennessee vs South Carolina
The Tennessee Volunteers are looking to avoid a letdown this weekend on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
It feels like everyone in the country is feeling the same way about this weekend’s matchup between Tennessee and South Carolina in Columbia.
Everyone is expecting the Vols to come out flat after their big win against Alabama and have a letdown game against the Gamecocks.
Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is picking South Carolina to win. So is former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy.
Another former SEC star who is picking South Carolina is David Pollack, a former Georgia standout.
Pollack has the Gamecocks winning 27-20 on Saturday.
“South Carolina does a really good job of running the football and staying out of obvious third and long,” said Pollack. “Have you seen this Matt Fuller guy for South Carolina? I really like this dude. Between him and (LaNorris) Sellers, the amount of tackles that they break, and then they’re on the next level, and then it’s a first down. It’s a big play over and over and over again. It happens very, very consistently.
“Where’s this game being played at? Williams-Brice Stadium. Space Odyssey. The rooster will be crowing very annoyingly. This feels like a trench war. This feels like LaNorris Sellers (having a big game). I told you before the season that South Carolina was going to get somebody. This is who they’re gonna get. This is gonna be a great game, but I think it’s the run game of South Carolina. It’s breaking tackles and making extra plays.”
“What South Carolina can do through the passing game is create some explosive plays off of the run game, and because of that, they finally get their finish,” added Pollack. “They finally finish the game strong and run out the clock with LaNorris Sellers and company in the run game. … South Carolina has some legitimate dudes on their squad. I think it’s a good game, but I also think South Carolina is really talented, and that’s a tough place to play. South Carolina wins by seven, 27-20.”
Tennessee and South Carolina will kick off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday. The game will air on ESPN.
