San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings isn’t expected to be suspended by the NFL for his post-game altercation with Carolina Panthers defensive back Tre’von Moehrig earlier this week.

The post-game altercation started because Jennings, a former Tennessee Vols standout, was hit below the belt by Moehrig during the game.

Moehrig was suspended one game for punching Jennings.

Jennings, meanwhile, could be fined by the NFL, but he isn’t expected to face a suspension.

Former Pro Bowl WR says the NFL should suspend Jauan Jennings

Former Pro Bowl wide receiver T. J. Houshmandzadeh said this week on “The Speakeasy Talk Show” that Jennings should also be suspended by the NFL.

“Tre’von Moehrig was 100 percent wrong,” said Houshmandzadeh. “He should have been suspended. But why during the play, if I hit you late, then you turn around and hit me, it’s offsetting personal foul penalties? Why is Jauan Jennings not getting suspended? [He] reacted 30 to 45 minutes after [it happened]. So now why do you get a slap on the wrist, and you pretty much did the same thing he did.”

It’s a fair question, but I think the NFL is making the right call on this one. I also think Houshmandzadeh would probably feel a bit differently had he been in Jennings’ shoes.
