Kim Caldwell’s ‘Hail Mary’ attempt failed and now Lady Vols legend Candace Parker is going viral
Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell attempted to pull off a “Hail Mary” this week, but it didn’t work out for Tennessee. Lady Vols legend Candace Parker is going viral as a result.
Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell tried to pull off “Hail Mary” this week, but it didn’t work out.
VolQuest’s Austin Price said earlier this week on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will that Caldwell was trying to get five-star Oliviyah Edwards to recommit to Tennessee.
Edwards originally signed with the Lady Vols, but she asked for her release earlier this month.
“They’re going to continue to swing at Big O, Oliviyah Edwards,” said Price. “She’s taken a couple of visits to South Carolina, Texas, and Louisville. They’re going to continue to swing there and see if they can throw a Hail Mary and get her back in the boat again. To me, you’re playing with house money. I think most people have [assumed she’s] gone. If [Tennessee] could pull a Hail Mary here and get her back in the fold, it would be a huge coup for Caldwell.”
Caldwell shot her shot with Edwards, but it wasn’t enough — the five-star forward committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday.
Lady Vols legend Candace Parker is going viral because Oliviyah Edwards committed to South Carolina
Lady Vols legend Candace Parker is going viral in the aftermath of Edwards’ commitment to South Carolina because of comments that were made on a podcast a couple of weeks ago.
Parker said on Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston that Edwards would not be going to South Carolina.
“She’s not going to South Carolina,” said Parker to co-host Aliyah Boston (Boston played for South Carolina from 2019 to 2023).
I think it’s pretty clear that Parker wasn’t making a prediction for Edwards. Instead, it seemed like Parker was trying to manifest Edwards to anywhere but South Carolina.
Hopefully no one looks at this as a “bad take” from Parker, when it was just a former Lady Vol having some fun.
