2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges will announce his commitment on July 22. The Tennessee Vols and the Ohio State Buckeyes are the two programs at the top of this recruiting battle.

On Sunday, nine Rivals.com insiders made their predictions for where Gabriel Georges will land (there are six predictions for Ohio State and three predictions for Tennessee).

One prediction in particular included a quote that is concerning for Vols fans (and Ohio State fans as well, to be honest).

Recruiting insider predicts Tennessee will land a commitment from David Gabriel Georges on July 22, but it comes with a caveat

Greg Biggins is one of the three Rivals.com insiders who predicts that Tennessee will land Gabriel Georges on July 22.

“Tennessee will likely put the highest NIL offer ever for a running back on the table and will do everything it can to land him,” wrote Biggins. “Ohio State has done a great job recruiting him over the last few years as well but, at the end of the day, my gut says the Vols win out.”

Biggins then added that he “won’t be shocked if there’s a flip later on in the recruitment.”

Oh boy.

So essentially, if Gabriel Georges commits to Tennessee on July 22, Biggins doesn’t believe it’ll mean that this battle is over.

Vols fans experienced this same scenario in 2024 when five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr committed to Tennessee before taking an unexpected visit to Ohio State just before the early signing period (UT, however, was able to hold on to Sanders despite the late push from the Buckeyes).

On the flip side, if Gabriel Georges commits to Ohio State on July 22, it sounds like the Volunteers will still have a chance to change his mind before signing day.

Either way, based on Biggins’ comment, it doesn’t appear that this recruiting battle will be over on July 22 regardless of which program Gabriel Georges chooses.
