Tennessee RB DeSean Bishop leaves no doubt on how he feels about the Vols’ pursuit of 2027 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges
The Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges next week.
The Tennessee Vols are hoping that redshirt junior running back DeSean Bishop has a terrific 2026 season and then heads to the NFL and is replaced in 2027 by five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
There’s a very real chance that happens. But first the Vols have to land Gabriel Georges when he announces his commitment on July 22.
And then Bishop needs to have another solid season so his draft stock remains high enough that it makes sense for him to declare for the 2027 NFL Draft.
If Bishop doesn’t have a great 2026 season — which would presumably only be because of injury — he could choose to return in 2027, which would make for a potentially awkward situation with Gabriel Georges (who is expected to be “the guy” as a true freshman wherever he lands).
Bishop, though, doesn’t seem to be worried about any of that. He made it clear this week to On3 that he wants to see Gabriel Georges in orange.
“Shout out to him, I know he’s been working hard,” said Bishop to On3. “Whatever decision he makes, we’ve got to respect it. But obviously, I would love to see him in the orange. We have a long history of elite running backs. You go into that running back room we have; I don’t think anybody can touch it in the SEC. But shout out to him. Whatever he decides to do, I hope it’s the best decision for him.”
Gabriel Georges is set to announce his decision on July 22 at 5:30 PM ET. For now, it’s Tennessee that’s trending to land his commitment.
