Panthers’ Chris Brazzell II just had his training camp turned upside down, and it doesn’t look good
The former Tennessee Vols star suffered an injury early in his first training camp, and he got a ride that no player ever wants.
Former Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II has been a positive standout this offseason for the Carolina Panthers. A third round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Brazzell has been looking like a threat to break into the Panthers’ wide receiver rotation as a rookie.
Unfortunately, those plans might have just hit a wall early in his first training camp.
According to the media in attendance, the former Vols star suffered a knee injury during training camp on Wednesday. He could not put any weight on his left leg and had to be carted to the locker room.
Chris Brazzell II suffered a knee injury during training camp, carted off the field
It’s obviously never a good sign when a player can’t even put weight or hobble after suffering an injury and when the cart is involved.
Brazzell had been dealing with a knee issue in the days leading up to practice on Wednesday. He was absent from the field on Sunday, with head coach Dave Canales referring to it as knee soreness for Brazzell. According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the soreness is in the same knee he injured on Wednesday.
In any event, Brazzell and Panthers fans will now have to wait with baited breath to see if he managed to avoid disaster with an injury that he can recover from in relatively short order, or if his rookie season was dealt a cruel blow that is an unfortunate by product of the sport.
UPDATE: Tests confirmed Brazzell has a moderate tear of his LCL, which is expected to sideline him for up to eight weeks. The news could have been worse for the rookie, with the vast majority of the season on the table for him if his recovery goes according to plan.
